Now Open

Christopher Whitehead Language College are delighted to announce that the long awaited Enhanced Mainstream Autism Base opened in September 2023.

The Beacon offers a flexible approach to the curriculum with bespoke opportunities based on individual need. The building for the Beacon is purpose built and provide’s a nurturing environment; designed to meet a range of learning needs.

Students accessing The Beacon will have an ASD diagnosis and an EHCP funded at an appropriate level according to the Enhanced MAB criteria.

Places at The Beacon will be offered following consultation with the Local Authority, where the school will decide whether a child’s needs can be met at The Beacon, based on the provision detailed in the child’s EHCP. The school is not able to offer places directly.

For more information please download The Beacon Information Leaflet by clicking here.

Please note visits by families of potential students are by prior arrangement with the MABCO and will take place on Tuesdays between 3.20-4.20 from September 2023.

If you require further information please contact the Mainstream Autism Base Coordinator (MABCO).
