CHRISTOPHER WHITEHEAD

LANGUAGE COLLEGE AND SIXTH FORM

WELCOME TO CWLC SIXTH FORM!

MEGAN REYNOLDS | SIXTH FORM STUDENT

I chose to study the BTEC sport single award at sixth form because I really enjoyed studying it at GCSE. One of the main selling points for me was the number of different modules which are covered over the two year course.
I found that the variety allowed me to stay focused and enthusiastic about learning throughout the course. I also think that the opportunity to complete exam modules in year 12 is beneficial because it means that there is relieved exam pressure in year 13 where we focused purely on coursework modules of the course. Overall I find the course extremely enjoyable and interesting to study and it is always a lesson I look forward to. After Sixth form I hope to go on to university and complete an undergraduate degree before going on to complete a PGCE and become a teacher in secondary education.

WHY CHOOSE BTEC LEVEL DIPLOMA IN SPORTS?

The BTEC Diploma is an academic, practical, and vocational course that helps you learn all about the sports industry from multiple occupational perspectives. We will be exploring this rapidly growing industry from multiple industry dimensions, from coaching to management. The flexibility of this course allows us to select the most relevant and interesting units for our learners to explore.

Learners will develop their academic understanding of the sports industry. In addition, augment your vocational skills through assisting PE teachers and coaches in lesson support, local primary school sport or extra-curricular clubs. Moreover, you will develop your sporting performance through individualized training programmes and expand your personal skills through sports leadership and a range of events and trips.

The course is equivalent to two ‘A’ levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose whether to get a job straight away or go into higher education first.
