CHRISTOPHER WHITEHEAD

LANGUAGE COLLEGE AND SIXTH FORM

WELCOME TO CWLC SIXTH FORM!

JOSIE BALLARD | SIXTH FORM STUDENT

I chose this subject because it was something I enjoyed at GCSE and wanted to continue doing. I have enjoyed being able to personalise my portfolio to something I want to study, and increase me independence. Art has enabled me to be able to use my time management skills better when sticking to deadlines and has also developed my essaywriting skills which will be useful in further education.
I chose Art purely because it was something I enjoyed rather than something I intend to study at university. I’d definitely recommend choosing subjects you enjoy, or you won’t enjoy your sixth form experience!  But also think about what you’d like to do in the future so your subject choices will help you get onto these courses at university.

WHY CHOOSE A-LEVEL FINE ART?

Studying fine art at CWLC will enable you to not only explore and master traditional 2D and 3D art media, but also consider new technologies and conceptual art. You will be encouraged to express thoughts, feelings and ideas through visual means to produce thoughtful and meaningful artwork. You will delve deep into the work of historical artists and contemporary practitioners and respond to a range of issues and ideas creatively. Through problem solving, developing skills in research and investigation and critically analysing the work of others and your own practice, you will develop important transferable skills required for higher education and employment. As a 60% coursework subject you will be able to modify and refine portfolio work as you become more confident in your abilities.
