Headteacher’s Welcome

Neil S Morris

Thank you for your interest in our fantastic 11-18 school.

We value all our students and believe that, with our support, everyone at Christopher Whitehead Language College and Sixth Form achieves excellence in their education. This is a school that is still undergoing significant investment, with a £5 million building programme due to be completed by spring 2017. This will see an extension to the dining hall, a new sixth form centre and twenty new classrooms.

A twenty first century infrastructure to match the twenty first century education.

Our students’ behaviour and attendance have continued to be recognised as exemplary and have been judged to be ‘outstanding’ in our last three Ofsted inspections. All students make significant social and academic progress. These are key performance indicators that tell you our students feel happy, safe and ready to learn. Crucially, they make progress from their starting point. We ensure they follow the correct curriculum pathway in order to achieve the best qualifications and develop the best skills for further education and a successful career. No student leaves our school without a course, apprenticeship or a pathway to a successful future.

Professor Lord Robert Winston inspired students and staff in February when he visited CWLC to speak about his work in the fields of genetics, physics and life itself.

Nic Harrington, a comedian, magician, computing expert and quantum physicist (possibly the most interesting job title we've ever come across), visited CWLC recently to speak to students about quantum computers.

The first House Welly-Wanging competition took place before the Easter holidays and was a great success. Top of the leader board was Da Vinci house with an impressive 78 points, with Seacole in second place who scored 62.
