The Importance of Research
In the last few years, the importance of research in teaching and learning has taken a much bigger part. The parts played by organisations such as the Sutton Trust and individual academics like Prof. John Hattie cannot be underestimated. Their research uses meta-analyses – the average findings of thousands of academic pilots, experiments and theses from all over the world conducted over the past 15-20 years. These meta-analyses tell us which teaching and learning strategies really work and what impact they have on the students we teach.
